Store Settings
Your store settings contain essential business information that customers see and use when ordering. This guide covers setting your name, address, contact details, VAT profile, and store URL.
Accessing Store Settings
- Go to Settings → Store in your admin panel
- Update the fields as needed
- Click Save Changes at the bottom
Changes take effect immediately on your storefront.
Store Name
Your store name appears at the top of your storefront and in customer emails.
Best practices:
- Use your registered business name or trading name
- Keep it concise and recognisable
- Match your social media and Google Business names for consistency
Example: "Mario's Pizza Kitchen" or "The Riverside Café"
How it affects your storefront: The name appears in the header, page title, order confirmations, and emails. It's the first thing customers see.
Contact Details
Provide a phone number and email address for customer enquiries.
Phone Number
The phone number customers can call for questions or issues.
Format: Include the country code if you serve international customers (e.g., +44 20 1234 5678).
How it affects your storefront: Displayed in the footer and on order confirmation pages. Customers use it to contact you about orders.
Email Address
The email address for customer support.
Best practices:
- Use a dedicated support email (e.g., [email protected])
- Check this inbox regularly
- Set up auto-responses if you can't reply immediately
How it affects your storefront: Displayed in the footer and used as the "reply-to" address for order confirmation emails.
Store Address
Your physical location is essential for delivery radius calculations and customer trust.
Using Address Search
- Start typing your address in the Store Address field
- Select your location from the suggestions
- Ordery fills in the full address automatically
Benefits of using address search:
- Fast and accurate
- Includes postcode automatically
- Enables precise delivery radius checks
Manual Address Entry
If the search doesn't find your location, you can enter it manually.
- Click Enter address manually
- Fill in each field (street, city, postcode)
- Click Save
ℹ️ Note: Manual addresses work fine, but delivery radius calculations may be slightly less accurate.
How it affects your storefront: Your address appears in the footer and on checkout pages. Ordery uses it to calculate delivery distances.
VAT Registration
If your business is VAT-registered, enter your VAT number here.
When to provide a VAT number:
- You're VAT-registered with HMRC
- Your annual turnover exceeds the VAT threshold
- You want VAT included on invoices and receipts
How it affects your storefront: Your VAT number appears on receipts and order confirmations. Ordery calculates VAT on non-exempt items automatically.
ℹ️ Note: If you're not VAT-registered, leave this field blank. Most small food businesses below the VAT threshold don't need to register.
Delivery Fee
Set a flat delivery fee applied to all delivery orders.
How to set it:
- Enter the fee in pounds (e.g., 2.50 for £2.50)
- Click Save Changes
How it affects your storefront: The delivery fee is added to the order total at checkout for delivery orders. Pickup and table service orders don't include the fee.
💡 Tip: You can offer free delivery using discount codes (create a fixed-amount discount equal to your delivery fee).
Store URL and Custom Domains
Your store URL is how customers access your online menu.
Default Ordery URL
When you create your store, Ordery assigns a URL based on your store name:
Format: yourstore.ordery.com
Example: mariospizza.ordery.com
Checking Slug Availability
- Go to Settings → Store
- Edit the Store Slug field (the part before
.ordery.com) - Ordery checks if the slug is available
- If taken, try a variation (e.g.,
mariospizzauk)
Slug rules:
- Lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens only
- No spaces or special characters
- Must be unique across all Ordery stores
How it affects your storefront: Your slug is part of your storefront URL. Choose something memorable and easy to type.
Custom Domains
If you own a domain (e.g., mariospizza.co.uk), you can connect it to your Ordery store.
How to set up a custom domain:
- Go to Settings → Store
- Scroll to Custom Domain
- Enter your domain (e.g.,
order.mariospizza.co.uk) - Follow the DNS setup instructions provided
- Click Verify Domain
Benefits of a custom domain:
- Matches your existing website and branding
- Looks more professional
- Easier to remember
ℹ️ Note: You'll need access to your domain's DNS settings (usually through your domain registrar or web host).
⚠️ Warning: DNS changes can take 24–48 hours to propagate. Your custom domain may not work immediately.
How it affects your storefront: Customers access your store via your custom domain instead of the Ordery URL. Both URLs work, but Ordery redirects to your custom domain.
Storefront Preview
See what customers see before making changes public.
How to Preview
- In Settings → Store, find the Preview link
- Click it to open your storefront in a new tab
- Browse as a customer would
💡 Tip: Preview your store after making changes to ensure everything looks correct.
Open/Closed Status
Control whether your store accepts orders.
How It Works
Your store's open/closed status is determined by:
- Your opening hours
- Whether you've enabled pre-orders
During opening hours: Your storefront displays "Open" and customers can place orders.
Outside opening hours: Your storefront displays "Closed" and customers see your next opening time. Orders are disabled unless pre-orders are enabled.
How it affects your storefront: The open/closed message appears prominently on the home page. Customers can't check out when you're closed (unless pre-orders are on).
Suspension Due to Billing
If your Ordery subscription payment fails, your storefront may be temporarily suspended.
What happens:
- Customers see a "Temporarily Unavailable" message
- Orders are disabled until billing is resolved
How to fix it:
- Go to Billing in your admin panel
- Update your payment method
- Resolve any overdue invoices
- Your storefront resumes automatically once payment clears
⚠️ Warning: Keep your payment method up to date to avoid unexpected downtime.

Common Questions

Q: Can I use a subdomain of my main website?
Yes, for example order.yoursite.com. Follow the custom domain instructions.
Q: Do I need a custom domain?
No, your yourstore.ordery.com URL works perfectly. Custom domains are optional for branding.
